MEDC Seeks CPA Expertise to Help Start Ups and Small Business
The Michigan Economic Development Corporation needs CPAs to assist start-up and small businesses through the Pure Michigan Business Connect (PMBC) b2b portal. Currently, the greatest need for service partners is in West Michigan, the upper Lower Peninsula and the Upper Peninsula, says Cindy Krebs, MEDC Service Center. Potential donated service partners could provide a certain number of donated service hours or provide a reduced cost for services rendered. Michigan LLCs and PLLCs Annual Filings Due Tomorrow
Limited liability company and professional limited liability company 2017 annual statements and reports must be received by the Corporations Division by Feb. 15. Annual statements and annual reports can be filed online. If mailing instead, reports must be received by Feb. 15. Late filing penalties will be assessed for filings received after Feb. 15. IRS Confirms Six-Month Extensions for Calendar-Year C Corps
Despite statutory language that specifies a five-month extension for calendar-year C corporations, The Tax Adviser reports that the IRS is giving calendar-year C corporations a six-month filing extension. READ MORE

Michigan Treasury: Free Financial Counseling for Delinquent Student Loan Borrowers
Michigan residents who are delinquent on their federal student loans can receive free one-on-one counseling to return to a path of financial success through a one-year pilot program of the Michigan Department of Treasury. The program will assist borrowers by providing free financial literacy information and student loan delinquency counseling. $630,000 in Accounting Scholarships Now Available
The AICPA announced that the AICPA Legacy Scholarship application for undergraduate and graduate accounting students is now available on for the 2017-18 academic year.
