The Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants is providing an education program for members and those working with partnerships and family-owned and operated businesses.

The Closely Held Business Forum is scheduled for May 18 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Michigan State University Management Education Center, 811 W. Square Lake Road, Troy.

“Michigan is home to thousands of family-owned businesses who contribute billions to our economy,” said Dan Kolasinski, director of program development for MICPA. “We understand these businesses have unique challenges and regulations, and our goal is to provide quality education for those working in and serving this specialized sector.”

“While this particular forum took a hiatus a few years ago, we felt it was important to our members that we bring it back.”

Professionals who work with family businesses, closely held limited liability corporations and partnerships are encouraged to attend the event. The forum will cover topics such as wage-and hour compliance issues, ethics, cyberthreats, fraud and exit strategies.

Registration is $209 for MICPA members and $359 for non-members and available by visiting
