“Jim has been at the forefront in setting accounting standards throughout his illustrious career,” Lewis Sharpstone, CPA, CGMA, presenter and member of the AICPA Awards Committee said. “His dedication to high quality standards is steadfast and evident in the role he’s played in developing U.S. and international accounting standards.”

He continued on with the FASB to become involved in many areas including the Emerging Issues Task Force, the FASB Derivatives Implementation Group and the Financial Instruments Task Force. Leisenring has also held the positions of vice chairman, director of international activities and senior advisor to the FASB.

Other notable efforts and accolades include donations to the Michigan Accountancy Foundation, which supports educational initiatives, and his attendance of the MICPA Awards Dinner in 2010.
