MICPA President and CEO Peggy Dzierzawski, Clayton & McKervey, Kresge Foundation CFO Amy Robinson and EY’s Vicki Kamenova Among Those Honored at Walsh Leadership Awards Dinner

The Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA) and the accounting profession were well represented at the 2019 Walsh Leadership Awards, held Thursday, October 10 at the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham.

MICPA President and CEO, Peggy Dzierzawski, was again honored with the Jeffery W. Barry Award – the only second-time recipient in the award’s history. Named for a beloved president of Walsh College and mentor of Peggy’s, the award honors exceptional leaders for their achievements in community service and educational excellence. 

Throughout her 45-year career with the MICPA, including the past 22 she has served as President and CEO, Peggy’s mission has been to create an association that maintains the highest standards of the CPA profession through quality education, integrity and leadership. 

Peggy has instilled in her team the power of relationships and partnerships, a focus on initiatives that promote diversity and inclusion and the importance of building the pipeline for future CPAs. Heavily involved in the community, Peggy has served on numerous state and national committees, supporting professional and philanthropic initiatives including hospice, cancer and education.

Other award winners included global accounting firm, Clayton & McKervey, recipient of the President’s Award for Outstanding Partner in Education for its significant commitment to Walsh and its mission. Donald Clayton, Chairman Emeritus DIP ‘68, and Robert Dutkiewicz, President MST ‘96, accepted the award on behalf of the firm.

MICPA member and Vice President, CFO, and Chief Administrative Officer of The Kresge Foundation, Amy Robinson, was presented with the Walsh Distinguished Alumni Award as an outstanding alumnus who has achieved exceptional personal and professional recognition and Vicki Kamenova, Partner/Principal at EY, honored as the Walsh Distinguished Graduate of the Last Decade for her contributions and service to society, the community, and Walsh.
