IMPORTANT UPDATE TO MICHIGAN CPA LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

The deadline for earning your 40-hours of continuing education remains June 30, 2020 and LARA has lifted the 50% self-study cap through the end of this education cycle. As such, the State of Michigan will recognize all CPE taken electronically.

MICPA HAS THE VIRTUAL SOLUTION

Given the COVID-19 emergency declared by Governor Whitmer back on March 10, the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs has recognized that traditional in-person CPE is not possible and in conflict with CDC recommendations and other authoritative orders.

In response, the MICPA is offering a wide selection of virtual CPE options to ensure you have your 40 hours before the June 30 deadline. And remember, all MICPA CPE is automatically added into your MICPA Tracker, the easiest way to track, manage and report your CPE to the State.

If you need assistance with our online training options, please call us at 248.267.3700.

We’re happy to help!

Note: Until June 30, 2020, all in-person MICPA events have been converted to virtual programs

Remember: CPAs are now required to report the number of CPE credit hours obtained for each required area as well as a list of course sponsors, course titles and course dates from which the licensee received the credit. The inclusion of CPE course dates in this additional reporting has the effect of reinvigorating the 40-hour-per-year requirement, providing the department a means to enforce this aspect of the law.
