Topical Thoughts from MICPA President & CEO, Bob Doyle What About...Bob?

Happy New Year! (Can I still say that on January 19th?!?) It has been a busy but great start to the new year at the MICPA. One of my goals this year is to create more consistent blog posts, at least a couple times a month, so I can give you an update on what is going on at YOUR association. Let’s get started! 

We are especially excited and proud to be celebrating our 120th anniversary in 2021! Founded in 1901, the association was established, first and foremost, to support the certified public accountants practicing in the state of Michigan, with a mission to enhance their success and value to society. 

As you know accounting has continued to evolve – from a record-keeping system dating back thousands of years to the formation of the CPA profession title in 1896 and the automated systems prevalent today. Technological advancements and events like the COVID-19 pandemic have increased the rapidity of change in all businesses, and specifically for those in this profession. The CPA, once known as a number-cruncher or bookkeeper, has cemented the role as trusted advisor, recognized and relied upon for their essential business function and strategic value by companies or clients around the globe. 

Building upon our strong foundation as an association and recognizing the needs of CPAs today and going forward, we have worked alongside our Board of Directors to develop a new enhanced mission and vision for the future. At our core, we are your ACE… here to Advocate, Collaborate, and Educate so that you can be at your best. And, as an association, we are dedicated to serving you, the CPA profession, and the public you serve for years to come. You’ll be hearing more about our new mission and vision in the coming months. 

Join us in celebrating you (our members!) and our 120th anniversary throughout 2021! We can’t think of a better way to look back and lean forward than by doing so, together. Because we truly are Better Together!
