As we head into another beautiful springtime in Michigan, it truly does feel like a new season! Our communities, our profession, and our association are healthier and more vibrant than they’ve been in years. At the MICPA, our members have stepped up selflessly to guide communities, clients, small businesses, and each other through tremendous change. I have never been prouder—or more humbled—to be part of this association.

We’ve also adapted as an organization. Here are just some of the ways we’ve transformed our services to keep members connected and informed over the past year:

  • Provided 20+ hours of complimentary CPE and professional development courses
  • Increased coverage of professional issues through a new magazine, podcast, and member alerts
  • Expanded our diverse and extensive catalog of online learning opportunities
  • Created hybrid learning experiences (both online & in-person)
  • Offered virtual networking opportunities
  • Hosted timely roundtables on hot topics
  • Amped up our advocacy on your behalf to avoid unintended consequences of new legislation
  • Launched a concierge service to help you make the most of your membership
  • Facilitated member connections and new conversations via MICPA Connect

And we’re not stopping there! On May 5 we’re kicking off a series of live town halls throughout Michigan, with our first stop in metro Detroit. In keeping with members’ feedback, we’re going to make events like this more frequent and flexible, so that everyone can benefit whether you’re in a downstate metro or up in Marquette (Go Wildcats!).

I’m proud of the work we’ve done with you and for you over the past year, and excited about what lies ahead. While we always aim to minimize dues increases for MICPA members, providing better accessibility and new member resources has involved additional time and costs. You can expect a slight increase in your dues amount for the 2022-23 membership year so that we can continue to deliver the elevated services and support you deserve.

The spring season of rebirth is the perfect time to recommit to making the most of our personal and professional lives. I hope you continue to take advantage of the wide variety of resources and learning options available to you through the MICPA. Remember that our Member Services Department is always here to answer your questions, and my door (and mailbox and phone line) are always open.

Thank you for your support, your trust, and your membership. I appreciate all you do, and I hope to see you soon!
