To say Covid-19 has changed the world dramatically would be the understatement of the century. Almost every aspect of people's day-to-day lives has been turned upside down because of the virus.
At the same time, people all over the world are forging a path forward and creating a "new normal," particularly when it comes to the way they work and conduct business. Remote work went mainstream almost instantly because of the pandemic.
My experience, and that of our company, was no exception. When I was stuck in Turkey in early March, I had to rely on working remotely, but was luckily still able to do what I needed to get done due to the collaborative system and streamlined process we put in place. My team went fully remote in April and has been ever since. My underwriter is out in New Jersey, my business development staff is in Staten Island, New York, and I am in Brooklyn.
But because things happened so suddenly, and because many companies shifted from a traditional workplace to a remote work environment with little planning, many still feel they are fumbling around in the dark trying to put the pieces of this puzzle together.
Below I highlight some of the biggest challenges you'll have to overcome as a remote manager, as well as some solutions to clear these hurdles, too.
