As the MICPA Board of Directors enters a new annual term, we are happy to welcome, Kathy Petroni, Matthew Kidd, CPA, and Stacey Reeves to the 2020-2021 board session. The year ahead promises new challenges, and the MICPA will look to its board to act upon opportunities in the interests of its members. With the addition of their cumulative experience, the MICPA is excited to see where the year and our new directors will take us.
As a partner at Blunden & Kidd Accounting & Consulting, P.C., Matthew Kidd is a long-standing member of the MICPA and the recipient of the 2019 Chair’s Service Award and 2020 Emerging Leader Award. He brings an essential understanding of the evolving role of technology within the profession to his role on the AICPA Life Insurance/Disability Plans Committee and the MICPA is excited to see him bring that expertise to his new seat on the MICPA Board of Directors as well.
As the leader of Plante Moran’s governmental practice, Stacey Reeves specializes in financial forecast assistance, best practices, internal control assessments and required compliance services to governments. Her skills in these areas are certain to provide invaluable insight as we shift focus from pandemic damage control to economic recovery in 2021. Stacey’s experience with serving not-for-profit social institutions and private foundations concerning governance, internal control, risk assessment and compliance issues will be critical in the year ahead.
Finally, a distinguished professor emeritus in the Department of Accounting and Information systems in the Broad College of Business at Michigan State University (MSU), Kathy Petroni boasts an extensive record of service to the accounting profession. The recipient of multiple awards for her exemplary teaching and research accomplishment, Kathy also serves on the FASB Financial Accounting Standards Advisory Council and as associate editor of the Journal of Accounting & Economics. As the MICPA looks to expand the pipeline of the accounting profession, Kathy will bring an indispensable voice to the board.
To all our new board members, the MICPA is excited to come to know you better and see what you will accomplish in 2021. Congratulations, and welcome!
