Managing Stress in Stressful Times

lightbulb-data

Managing stress effectively has always been important, now more than ever. When you google the word stress, here is what you get: a state of mental or emotional strain or tension resulting from adverse or very demanding circumstances. What is causing you mental or emotional strain or tension in your life? Think about it, write it down. Now ask yourself if you have control over those things that are causing you that mental or emotional strain. What do you do if you have control over those things? What do you do if you do not have control over them? Peace and stability come in life when you know what values and principles make up the foundation of your life and you align everything with them, that is called “true North.”

Join us for a session to learn what it means to have “private victory” in a time when everything seems to be upended.  Business psychologist Lizabeth Wiggins will take you through the three most important things to ensure stability during upheaval. She will use a clip from a classic movie to illustrate one of the best business books you will ever read to illustrate how to manage stress in these stressful times. Liz will talk about focusing on what you can control, clarifying and holding on to what you value, and then organizing and executing around those important values. This will not be pop psychology or self-help tips and tricks. You will learn:

  • The importance of values and principles
  • That shaping a mission shapes you
  • To organize and execute around what is really important
  • How destructive “if only” really is
  • Response is everything
  • How relevant “Shawshank Redemption” is during these times
