THE MICHIGAN ASSOCIATION OF CPAs HOSTS 2022 AWARDS TO HONOR THE PROFESSION’S BEST AND BRIGHTEST
The MICPA recognizes award honorees and promotes student fundraising November 9
TROY, Mich., November 08, 2022 – The Michigan Association of CPAs (MICPA) is hosting their signature awards event, Celebrate, on Wednesday, November 9 to honor the achievements of today’s leaders while supporting the next generation of CPAs.
For the first time since 2019, Celebrate will take place in person at the Suburban Collection Showplace, Novi at 5:00 p.m. to recognize CPAs making positive contributions to the communities they serve, the economy and the business world. The MICPA will also support the efforts of the Michigan Accountancy Foundation by encouraging fundraising for academic scholarships, grants and educational programs to grow the profession. A past recipient will speak to the impact of the scholarship on their pursuit of the credential and the advancement of their career.
The evening event will be emcee’d by Emmy award-winning broadcast journalist, Paula Tutman of WDIV, highlighting eight award recipients, including the Advancing Equity Award winner, Mary Barton, Founder of Equitable Accounting Solutions.
The MICPA will recognize the following members as part of the Celebrate event:
- Advancing Equity Award - Mary Barton, Founder, Equitable Accounting Solutions
- Financial MVP Award - Jennifer Daves, Director of Accounting, UHY Advisors
- Impact Award - Powerhouse - Sarah Mather, Senior Grants Analyst, CS Mott Foundation
- Impact Award - Trailblazer - Sejla Kulaglic, Advisory & Tax Senior Manager, Rehmann
- Rising Star Award - Ray Poirier, lll, Principal/Owner, RPFinancial
- Rising Star Award - Dan Wysocki, Tax Manager, Plante Moran
- Rising Star Award - Brandon “Sharky” Zayid, Owner, Tax Shark
- Student Champion of the Year - Kellie Sauve, Central Michigan University Accounting Student
The MICPA works to create greater public awareness of the profession and expose young adults to the career opportunities that come with obtaining the CPA credential. In collaboration with the Michigan Accountancy Foundation (MAF), the MICPA encourages accounting students and graduates to become CPAs by funding scholarships, educational programs, and opportunities for students and educators to learn more about the profession, receive resources, hear CPAs speak at events or obtain grant funding. Attendees of Celebrate will have the opportunity to contribute to the Michigan Accountancy Foundation and the mission they serve.
