MICPA is aware of an issue in which some taxpayers are receiving notices from the Michigan Department of Treasury (Treasury) stating that 2025 estimated payments were not applied to their annual returns, though both taxpayers and their CPAs report the payments were made.
MICPA is aware of an issue in which some taxpayers are receiving notices from the Michigan Department of Treasury (Treasury) stating that 2025 estimated payments were not applied to their annual returns, though both taxpayers and their CPAs report the payments were made. While Treasury has not yet provided a resolution, it has paused sending additional notices as it works to determine a remedy. MICPA is actively working with the department to address the situation and appreciates the strong member engagement that helped identify the issue. We will continue to keep members informed as more information becomes available.
