Internal audit teams are increasing their focus on artificial intelligence, according to a new Institute of Internal Auditors survey. The survey of more than 3,000 audit leaders worldwide found digital disruption and AI rose to the top identified organizational risk, followed by geopolitical uncertainty. Only 23% of respondents rated their organizations’ governance of digital disruption as managed or optimized, and just 11% considered internal audit coverage fully adequate. The findings suggest audit plans may need to evolve more quickly to address emerging risks.
