MICPA members Mathew S. Kidd, CPA, PFS, Blunden & Kidd Accounting and Consulting and Connor Green Malatesta, CPA, CITP, Markoff & Malatesta CPAs and Advisors were among just 36 CPAs honored by the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) as a member of the Leadership Academy’s 14th graduating class. Matthew and Connor were selected based on their exceptional leadership skills and professional experience for the four-day Leadership Academy program, which will be held Oct. 23-27, 2022.

As a partner at Blunden & Kidd Accounting & Consulting, P.C., Matthew says he focuses on bringing broad accounting, tax and consulting experience with individuals, partnerships and corporations of all sizes. While serving many industries, he has developed a niche in healthcare and other professional service fields. Matthew believes the foundation of every client relationship is truly understanding each individual’s business and personal goals and needs. He strives to leverage technology allowing business owners to focus on their business or passions rather than compliance issues and includes this focus area in the continuing education courses he leads for other CPAs. He also enjoys speaking to college students regarding the CPA profession.

Matthew also serves on the MICPA board of directors and in a number of task forces. In addition to his work within the association, he is active within the AICPA and Get to Foundation. He was a recipient of the 2020 Oakland County Elite 40 Under 40 and is a sports enthusiast who enjoys spending time at Higgins Lake with his family of CPAs including his two brothers and father.

Likewise, Connor Green Malatesta is one of the founding partners of Markoff & Malatesta, CPAs and Advisors. He graduated from Wake Forest University in 2017 with a Master’s in Accountancy and a dual Bachelor’s in Accountancy and Computer Science. He began his career in public accounting as a staff auditor at Carr, Riggs, & Ingram out of their Raleigh, NC audit department. He then left CRI in 2019 to start his own independent practice offering financial accounting services to small and medium sized businesses. It was this that laid the initial groundwork for what would eventually become Markoff & Malatesta.

In his current role, Connor is responsible for the financial accounting services division of the firm, overseeing service lines including accounting system cleanups, monthly bookkeeping, GAAP compliance, audit preparedness and financial advisory services. He is also heavily involved in determining general firm strategy, hiring practices, and sales channels.

Please join us in congratulating MICPA members Matthew Kidd and Connor Malatesta on their admittance into this elite program!
